Run a drop

Put a batch of products on sale together, at a minute you choose, with a countdown.

  1. In Drops, choose New drop.
  2. Give it a name, such as “The Friday batch”, and choose Create.
  3. Choose Add products and pick the ones going in it. To make one for it, choose More actions (⋯), then New product for this drop.
  4. Under the name, write a line about it for its page, such as what’s in it.
  5. In Opens, choose Pick when it opens, pick a day and time, and choose Set.
  6. Choose Schedule.

What happens next

Its products come off your shop until it opens: no product pages, and not in lists or search. Your shop’s page leads with the drop, counting down, and shoppers can choose Remind me to get an email an hour before and when it opens. At that minute, everything in it goes on sale at once. See Drops on your storefront for what shoppers see.

A drop without a time is a draft. Drafts never show on your shop, so you can build one over a few days.

Choose when it closes

In Closes, choose:

  • When it sells out: it stays open until the last one sells.
  • At a set time: pick the day and time in Closes at. It closes then, or sooner if it sells out.

Limit how many each buyer gets

In Limit per checkout, choose how many of each product one checkout can have, from 1 to 20, or No limit.

Choose what happens to what’s left

In Leftovers, choose what happens when it closes, or you end it:

  • Keep selling what’s left: it stays in your shop as usual.
  • Take what’s left off sale: it’s gone until you put it back on sale.

Keep a product a mystery until it opens

  1. On the product’s row in the drop, choose Mystery.
  2. Add a teaser photo with Choose a teaser photo. It can’t be one of the product’s own.
  3. Write a one-line hint, such as “Speckled”.

Until the drop opens, shoppers see only the teaser photo and hint, never its name or price.

Change the order of its products

Drag a product’s row, or choose More (⋯) on it, then Move to the top, Move up, Move down or Move to the bottom. Its page shows them in this order.

See who’s waiting

In Waiting list, choose See who. Each person shows as Waiting, Reminded (had the hour-before email) or Told (had the email when it opened). Choose Copy emails to copy their addresses.

Move the opening time

  1. In Opens, choose the time.
  2. Pick the new day and time, and choose Move it.

Everyone waiting gets an email with the new time.

Open it early, or end it early

  • To open now, choose Open now (on a draft, it’s under More actions (⋯)), then Open it now. Everyone waiting gets an email.
  • To end it while it’s open, choose End now, then End it. Checkouts already started can still be paid.

Take it back to a draft

  1. In More actions (⋯), choose Back to a draft…
  2. Choose Back to a draft.

It won’t open, and its products stay off sale. The people waiting stay on the list, and hear the new time when you schedule it again.

Delete a drop

You can delete a draft, or a drop that’s over. A scheduled drop goes back to a draft first; an open one has to end first.

  1. In More actions (⋯), choose Delete drop…
  2. Choose Delete.

A draft’s products stay in your shop, off sale until you put them on sale or add them to another drop. A finished drop’s products and orders stay as they are.

Add a product from its own page

On the product’s page, in Drop, choose Add it to a drop and pick the drop. To take it out, open Drop again and choose Take it out of the drop. A product can be in one drop at a time, and once the drop opens, its products can’t change.
