Add a product
A name saves a product, off sale. Give it a price, then put it on sale when it’s ready.
- In Products, choose Add product.
- Choose Take photos. The first one is its cover. To add photos later, choose Start with just a name. Choose photos starts an import, for photos of many things: see Add products from photos.
- Name it, then press Enter. On a phone, Start with just a name asks for its name, and its price, how many you have and what it is if you know them; choose Next.
If you add photos on the new product’s page, Tinbird names it and writes its description and tags. To add only the photos, turn off Draft the listing from these.
It’s saved as soon as it has a name, off sale. Everything you change after that saves as you make it.
- Choose Add a price, enter it and choose Set price. On a phone, tap Price and type it.
- Under Description, tell buyers about it. It shows under its price. On a phone, it’s a row under On its page.
- When it’s ready, choose Put on sale (on a phone, at the bottom of the screen, beside the button that copies its link). Until it has a price, that button says Add a price instead.
What happens next
Until you put it on sale, only you can see it: it has no page on your shop and isn’t in your lists or search. Once it’s on sale, it’s on your shop as soon as your shop is open. Until then its Status says On sale once you open, and the button at the top is Open your shop.
To keep a product off your shop for now, see Hide or archive a product.
Sell it in sizes or colours
- Open the product.
- Under Variants, choose Add options like size or colour. On a phone, tap Variants under On its page first.
- Type its values, like
Small, Medium, Large. It starts namedSize; type over the name to change it. - Untick any combination you don’t sell.
A product can have up to three options, like size, colour and material. Each combination has its own price, stock and SKU. One with no price of its own uses the product’s price.
Tinbird makes each SKU from the product’s name and a number: LGP-001 and LGP-002 for A
little green print. Type over one to use your own code. Once a SKU is on an order, it stays
that option’s: if you change it, no other option can use the old one, and searching for it
still finds the option.
Sell a digital download
- Next to What it is, choose Something physical, then A download.
- Under Files, choose Add files. You can choose several at once.
- Choose Put on sale.
A digital product can be put on sale once a file is uploaded. Buyers download its files as soon as they’ve paid. Until someone buys it, you can add, rename, remove and reorder its files there. After that, see Update a download’s files.
You can change a product between something physical and a download until it’s been in a checkout or an order. A download has no variants or stock.
Say it’s made to order
- Next to Dispatch, choose Your usual time.
- Choose Made to order.
- Enter how many working days it takes you to make, and choose Set.
Buyers see that instead of your usual dispatch time.
Say it can’t be returned
- Next to Returns, choose Your returns policy.
- Choose Can’t be returned.
- Say why, like “Made to your measurements”, and choose Set.
Add tags and a badge
- Tags are your own labels, like
giftorceramics. Collections and filters use them. - A Badge is a short label on the product’s card, like
Limited.
Write its description
Write it under the product’s details. The tools above it make words bold or italic, add a link or start a list.
