Update a download’s files
Fix a file, or add, rename or remove files, and everyone who bought it gets the new version.
Until someone buys a download, you change its files right on the product page: Add files, or Rename or Remove one, and use the arrows to put them in order. Buyers get them as they are. Once someone has bought it, changes are an update:
- Open the product.
- Under Files, choose Make an update.
- Change the files: Add files, or Rename or Remove one. To change a file’s contents, remove it and add the new one. Use the arrows to put them in order.
- Under What’s new, say what changed. Buyers see it with the new files.
- Choose Publish version. It stays off until the files differ from the version buyers have, and while a file is still uploading.
- Check the email buyers will get, then choose Publish and email. For a small fix, choose Publish without emailing instead. If nobody can be emailed (buyers were refunded, or stopped your shop’s emails), there’s just Publish.
Everyone who bought it gets the new version on their downloads page, and so does everyone who buys it from now on. If you chose to email them, each buyer gets one email from your shop with what’s new and a link to their downloads. Buyers who stopped your shop’s emails, or whose order was refunded or is disputed, aren’t emailed. Under Updates on the product page, each version says whether it was emailed. Buyers keep the versions they had, so a file you remove stays with those who already had it. See How download versions work.
Until you publish, the update is a draft that only you can see, and buyers keep the version they have. Each file says how it differs from that version: New, Renamed or Same. A file you removed shows as Removed; choose Undo to put it back. An update is saved as you go, so you can leave and come back with Continue the update.
A published version can’t be changed. To fix a mistake, make another update.
Throw an update away
- Open the update: under Files, choose Continue the update.
- Choose Throw away this update, then Throw it away.
Buyers keep the files they have.
