Start your shop

Save your address, tell us about your shop and start your 14 free days. Nothing to pay today.

  1. On tinbird.shop, type the address you’d like, such as everyday-soap, and choose Open your shop.
  2. Under Open your shop, enter your email and a password. Your address is kept for you from here.
  3. Under What do you sell?, choose your main range, such as Pottery or Vintage and secondhand. Under What kind? you can add a few words of your own, if you like.
  4. Under How do people buy from you now?, choose all that apply, or I haven’t sold yet. If you choose two or more, choose where you get the most orders, or About the same.
  5. Under About how many orders in the last 30 days?, choose a rough number. You don’t see this one if you haven’t sold yet.
  6. Under What’s the hardest part right now? (or What would you most like help with? if you haven’t sold yet), choose the one closest. For Something else…, type a few words. Or choose Nothing’s hard yet or Not sure.
  7. Under Would you sell in drops?, choose the answer that fits, from I already do to Not for me.
  8. Under What’s your shop called?, your shop is named after its address. Keep it or type the name buyers will see, and check your Shop address. The address can be 5 to 30 lowercase letters, numbers, periods, underscores or dashes.
  9. Check the Selling from line, such as “Selling from New Zealand, in NZD”. If the country is wrong, choose Change. It sets the currency you sell in and where your bank account needs to be.
  10. Under Where can people find you?, add your Instagram and TikTok names, or choose + Facebook, + Pinterest, + YouTube, + Etsy, + Depop or + My website to add more. You can add more than one website. They show as icons at the top of your shop. Not on any yet? Choose Add later.
  11. Under Make it yours, choose a theme and a colour for your shop, then Use this look.
  12. Your shop puts itself together. Choose Continue.
  13. Under You’re serious about your shop. So are we., enter your card or use Apple Pay, then choose Start my free trial. Nothing is charged today. Below the button, Here’s what you get lists what’s included, and Not sure yet? answers the usual questions.
  14. Under You’re in, then One quick thing, type the 6-digit code we sent you, or choose Confirm my email in that email (on any device). If it hasn’t arrived, check your spam folder, or choose send a new code. Not now? Choose Do this later, and Home keeps Confirm your email until you’ve done it.

Each answer is saved as you go. If you leave before adding your card, Home shows Start your free trial: choose Continue and you pick up at the question you stopped at.

What happens next

Home shows your shop, “Not open yet”, and what’s left under Getting open: Your plan is done already, and two steps are to go:

  • Enable online payments: connect Stripe, so you can take payments. It takes about five minutes, and your bank account can wait until your first sale.
  • Open your shop: open it once Stripe has turned on your card payments.

Your shop stays private until you open it. Under the steps, Before you open suggests adding your first product and making it yours. Neither is needed to open.

Your 14 free days started when you added your card. We email you a week before they end. See Your free trial and plan.

Change your shop’s address

You can change your address until your shop is open. After that it’s fixed.

  1. On Home, under Getting open, choose Shop and links, Shop name or Name your shop, whichever it shows.
  2. Under Shop address, enter the new address.
