Every time someone buys, Tinbird…

  • ✓ Takes the payment on your own checkout
  • ✓ Emails the download the moment they pay
  • ✓ Keeps the file private, with links that expire
  • ✓ Lets buyers get fresh links without emailing you
  • ✓ Stops downloads if you refund
  • ✓ Keeps earlier buyers on the version they paid for

Keep every sale.

Most places that sell downloads take a cut of each one, and the cut grows with you. Tinbird is $20 a month, whatever you sell.

On Tinbird, you keep$580$600 minus your $20 plan.
With a 10% + 50¢ cut, about$515A typical platform fee on each sale. Card fees apply on both.

Fix a typo. Nobody gets the wrong file.

Upload a new version whenever you like. New buyers get the newest file, and earlier buyers keep the one they paid for.

Links that look after themselves.

Every buyer joins your list.

Each sale brings the buyer’s name and email into your customer list, with everything they’ve ever bought from you. When the next pattern is ready, you know exactly who’ll want it.

They’re your customers, not ours, and the list goes with you whenever you like.

What to look for when you sell downloads.

Most platforms will take a file and take a payment. What matters shows up after the first sale.

  1. 01

    Who keeps the customer

Some platforms keep the buyer’s details to themselves. You want their name and email, and to take the list with you.

On TinbirdEvery buyer lands in your customer list.

  2. 02

What you pay as you grow

A cut of every sale is cheap at first and costly later. Add the platform fee and the card fee together.

On Tinbird$20 a month and no cut, at any size.

  3. 03

What happens when you fix a file

Typos happen. Check that new buyers get the fixed file and earlier buyers aren’t left with a broken one.

On TinbirdEvery upload is a version, and buyers keep theirs.

  4. 04

    Whether your links leak

A download link that works forever ends up in a forum. Look for links that expire and can be renewed.

On TinbirdTen-minute links, fresh ones on request.

  5. 05

Whether it sells the rest of your work

If you make physical things too, a downloads-only store means two shops, two checkouts and two lists.

On TinbirdPhysical and digital in one shop.

Download questions, answered.

Can I sell downloads without a website?
Yes. Your shop is your website, at tinbird.shop/your-name, with its own checkout. Put the link in your bio and you’re selling.
What kinds of files can I sell?
Any file up to 2 GB: PDFs, images, fonts, presets, brushes, audio, video or a ZIP of several files. Each product has one file, so a set goes out as a ZIP.
What can I charge?
Whatever you like, in your shop’s currency. Stripe’s smallest card payment is about 50¢, so that’s the floor.
Do my buyers need an account?
No. They pay with their email address, and that email is how they get their download, now or months later.
What if a buyer loses their download?
Your shop’s downloads page sends fresh links to the email they bought with. It never says whether an email bought anything, so nobody can use it to look up your buyers.
Can people share the download link?
Each download link stops working after ten minutes and the receipt’s link after a week, so a link posted online soon goes dead. A file someone has already downloaded can be passed on, and Tinbird doesn’t add copy protection.
Who handles refunds?
You do, from the order in Tinbird: the whole order or just one item. Your buyer gets a refund email, and a refunded download stops working.
Do I need to charge VAT or sales tax?
It depends on where you and your buyers are. Some countries tax digital sales to their residents from the first sale. Tinbird doesn’t collect tax yet, so check what applies to you.
